Objective: to validate the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) in university students of Ecuador. Methods: Sample of 210 students (128 women and 82 men), randomly. Validity was determined using Bartlett's test (B) and Kaiser Meyer Olkim's index (KMO). Reliability was evaluated through its internal consistency (Cronbach's Alpha (C)) and its stability, using the Sperman-Brown and the intraclass correlation (CCI) In addition, a confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA) was performed. Results: in MBI-SS: C gave .779; .805; .794 and .737 in global, exhaustion, cynicism and efficacy respectively. The test-retest was .756; .810; .570 and .505 in global, exhaustion, cynicism and efficacy respectively. KMO results: .752; .771; .723 and .762 in global, exhaustion, cynicism and efficacy respectively and that of B was 282,740; 330,786; 278,701 and 238,733 in global, exhaustion, cynicism and efficacy. Conclusions: The instrument had favorable results in terms of validity and reliability.
